The Southwestern Gallery Has Photography From A Very Diverse Area
The southwestern gallery includes photography from New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah. I have previously lived in all of these states except Utah, and I have visited there many times. This is a very large and diverse area of the country, ranging from glacial mountains over 14,000 feet high to 120 degree deserts barely above sea level. Challenges for creating your own southwestern gallery range the gamut from large distances and few roads between destinations, breath-taking changes in altitude and temperature to the occasional mountain lion bold enough to stalk a human. If planning a visit, read up on basic safety procedures for you and your vehicle. Many people run into serious problems every year because of high heat, fierce winter storms, summer flash-floods and run-ins with large animals. Usually nothing more is required than to be aware of the potential problems. The southwestern states offer fantastic opportunities for all aspects of outdoor photography. Landscape, wildlife, close-up, adventure sports are just the tip of the iceberg and you should not try to cram too much into a single trip. Do your homework on-line, get tips and directions from the natives, concentrate on one thing at a time and have fun!
