Seminole Lake Park Is A Large Area With Many Amenities

Seminole Lake Photograph

Seminole Lake Park is one of the larger parks in Pinellas county and contains on of the larger bodies of water. The entrance is on the south end of the lake on Park Boulevard between Seminole and Starkey. Like all of the parks in this part of Florida it is generally open year round from 7:00 a.m. until dusk. From Thanksgiving through New Year's Day there are holiday displays throughout the park for visitors to enjoy. Park hours are often extended into the evening so folks can drive past the light displays.

There are boat ramps for those wishing to use them for fishing or other water sports. A long, paved oval trail in the northern end of the park has separate pedestrian and bike/skate lanes. Other amenities include ball fields, children's playground equipment, covered picnic shelters and flush toilets.

Many large pine and oak trees grow here and some are usually used in the spring by nesting blue herons. The blue herons and all the usual wading birds inhabit the park all year. Some large alligators live in the main body of the lake and sometimes also in the many smaller ponds, so no swimming is allowed. Eagles are occasionally seen along the northern portions. Bottle brush trees and other interesting plants are scattered throughout.
